FAQ – Lymphatic Drainage & Sculpt Massage

1. What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle, rhythmic massage technique that stimulates the lymphatic system to eliminate toxins, reduce swelling, support immune health, and encourage natural detoxification. It’s a clinical technique, not a typical “relaxation” massage.

2. What’s the difference between MLD and Brazilian Sculpt Massage?

Original Vodder MLD focuses on detoxification, fluid movement, and medical-grade results, while Brazilian Sculpt Massage uses more dynamic movements to contour the body, reduce bloating, and create visible shape and tone. I combine both methods to give you the most effective treatment possible.

3. What conditions or concerns does this treatment help with?

✔ Water retention

✔ Bloating & puffiness

✔ Poor circulation

✔ Post-surgical recovery (e.g., liposuction)

✔ Cellulite & skin tone

✔ Immune system support

✔ Hormonal bloating

✔ General detoxification

4. How soon will I see results?

Many clients feel and see results after just one session; a lighter body, more defined contours, reduced swelling, and improved digestion. However, a series of sessions brings the most lasting change.

5. How often should I book?

To maintain results, I recommend treatments every 2–4 weeks, depending on your goals. For post-op recovery or detox programs, a short intensive course may be suggested.

6. What should I wear or do before my appointment?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing, avoid heavy meals beforehand, and drink plenty of water to support lymph movement. I’ll guide you through all pre- and post-treatment advice for best results.

7. Why are prices increasing?

This new direction reflects not only the thousands invested in advanced training but also the clinical precision, bespoke care, and visible results these treatments offer. You’re receiving the highest level of expertise and tailored treatment, and your results will reflect that.

8. Are these treatments relaxing or clinical?

They’re both. While rooted in clinical principles and technique, the treatments are incredibly calming, helping to reduce stress and nervous system overload while sculpting and detoxifying.

9. Is this treatment suitable for everyone?

Most people benefit from lymphatic work, but there are some contraindications. You’ll be asked to complete a thorough consultation form to ensure safety and best outcomes.

FAQ- Post-Operative MLD

1. What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and why do I need it after surgery?

MLD is a gentle massage technique that encourages the movement of lymph fluids around the body, helping to reduce swelling, prevent fibrosis, and promote healing after surgery. After procedures like liposuction or tummy tucks, the lymphatic system may need assistance to function efficiently.

2. When should I start MLD after surgery?

This depends on your surgeon's recommendation, but many patients begin MLD within 3 to 7 days post-op. Early treatment can help minimize swelling, speed up recovery, and improve the overall results of your procedure.

3. How many MLD sessions will I need?

It varies by procedure and individual healing. On average, most patients benefit from 6 to 12 sessions, but some may require more. Your therapist can assess your needs and recommend a personalized treatment plan.

4. Will MLD be painful after surgery?

No. MLD is very gentle and should not be painful. Some areas may be tender due to the surgery, but the technique is designed to be soothing and supportive of healing, not deep or aggressive.

5. What should I wear to my MLD appointment?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. If you're wearing a compression garment, you may need to remove it during the session and put it back on afterward. Some clients bring a fresh garment or pads for drainage if needed.

6. Do I still need to wear my compression garment after MLD?

Yes. Compression garments help manage swelling and shape the body as it heals. MLD and compression work best together. Follow your surgeon's timeline on how long to wear your garment.

7. Can MLD help with fibrosis or lumps?

Yes. MLD can help prevent fibrosis (hardening or lumpiness under the skin), especially when started early. If fibrosis has already developed, your therapist may incorporate specialized techniques like myofascial release or cupping to address it.

8. Is MLD safe if I have drains or sutures?

Yes, in most cases. MLD can be safely performed around drains or healing incisions, but we will always follow your surgeon’s clearance and adapt the technique as needed. Always let your therapist know your current post-op status.

10. What results should I expect from MLD?

You may notice less swelling, improved comfort, smoother contours, and a quicker return to your normal routine. Results build over time, and consistent treatments yield the best outcome.

FAQ- Facial MLD, Sculpt & Buccal Massage

1. What is facial MLD and how does it help?

Facial MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) is a gentle technique that helps move stagnant lymph fluid, reduce puffiness, promote detoxification, and support skin health. It’s especially helpful after procedures, during hormonal changes, or for clients prone to fluid retention or dull skin.

2. What’s the difference between MLD, sculpting, and buccal massage?

MLD is light and rhythmical, focused on drainage and reducing inflammation.

Facial sculpting massage uses firmer, lifting techniques to tone muscles, improve circulation, and define facial contours.

Buccal massage is an intraoral technique that works inside the mouth to release deep facial tension, sculpt the lower face, and promote lymphatic drainage from within.

3. Is there downtime after these treatments?

No. These are non-invasive treatments with no downtime. However, mild redness, increased urination, or slight tenderness in the jaw may occur temporarily, especially after buccal massage.

4. Can I wear makeup after the session?

It’s best to keep your skin clean for a few hours after treatment to allow optimal detox and absorption of any post-treatment products. You can apply makeup later in the day if needed.

5. How often should I get facial massage or MLD?

For best results:

MLD: 1–2x/week during periods of puffiness, post-facial procedures, or detox

Sculpting Massage: Weekly or biweekly for maintenance and muscle training

Buccal Massage: Every 2–4 weeks, or more often during periods of tension or sculpting goals

6. Can these treatments help with TMJ, jaw tension, or sinus pressure?

Yes! Facial MLD and buccal massage are particularly effective at relieving jaw tightness, clenching, TMJ-related discomfort, and sinus congestion. Many clients report immediate relief and improved facial symmetry.

7. Will I see results after one session?

You may see a more sculpted, lifted, and de-puffed appearance immediately after treatment. For long-term results like muscle tone improvement and tension release, consistency is key

8. Is buccal massage uncomfortable or painful?

It may feel intense at first, especially if you carry tension in your jaw or cheeks. However, it should never be painful. Your therapist will always work within your comfort level and check in with you during the treatment.

FAQ - Deep Tissue Massage

1. What is deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue targets deeper layers of muscle and fascia to help release chronic tension, knots, and restrictions in movement.

2. Is it painful?

You may feel some discomfort in tighter areas, but it should never be painful. We’ll always work with your tolerance and communicate throughout the session.

3. Who is it best suited for?

It’s great for people with chronic tension, postural imbalances, athletes, or anyone who prefers a firmer, therapeutic touch.

4. What results can I expect?

Improved range of motion, reduced muscle tightness and pain, faster recovery from injury or training, and long-term posture improvement.

5. Will I feel sore afterwards?

Some muscle soreness can occur, like after a workout. Staying hydrated and applying heat at home can help, and this usually eases within 24–48 hours.

FAQ - Hot Stones Massage

1. What is a hot stones massage?

It’s a deeply relaxing treatment using smooth, heated stones placed on key points of the body to ease muscle tension and promote calm.

2. What are the benefits?

Improved circulation, reduced muscle stiffness, deep relaxation, better sleep, and reduced stress levels.

3. Is it suitable for everyone?

Most people can enjoy hot stones, but it’s not recommended if you have certain conditions like uncontrolled high blood pressure, diabetes, or skin sensitivity. We’ll always do a full consultation first.

4. Will the stones be too hot?

No – the stones are heated to a safe, comfortable temperature and checked throughout the treatment. You’ll never be left feeling uncomfortable.

5. How is it different to a regular massage?

The heat from the stones allows muscles to relax more quickly and deeply, enhancing the therapeutic effect of the massage.

FAQ - Pregnancy Massage

1. Is pregnancy massage safe?

Yes! When performed by a trained therapist, pregnancy massage is completely safe during the second and third trimesters. It can help reduce swelling, ease aches, and support overall wellbeing.

2. When can I start having pregnancy massages?

Treatments are typically recommended from 13 weeks onwards. Always check with your midwife or healthcare provider first if you have any high-risk factors.

3. What position will I lie in during the massage?

You’ll be positioned comfortably on your side with support cushions to ensure your safety and comfort throughout the treatment.

4. What are the main benefits?

Reduced lower back and hip pain, improved sleep, decreased stress and anxiety, and reduced swelling (oedema) in the legs and feet.

5. Can you do deep tissue during pregnancy?

We avoid deep pressure during pregnancy and instead use safe, specific techniques to release tension without affecting circulation or the uterus.
